Physics laboratory technician VET

During your apprenticeship at METAS as a Physics laboratory technician, Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (VET), specialising in physics, you use state-of-the-art technology to measure physical quantities – from nanoseconds to meganewtons. You conduct experiments, establish measurement procedures and develop devices.

Your duties

  • You conduct experimental and test experiments in various fields of applied physics (optics, electricity, energy and thermodynamics).
  • Together with scientists, you plan suitable measurement procedures.
  • You develop special devices according to specifications or your own drawings and adapt them.
  • You apply the basic principles of electronics, mechanics, physics and measurement technology in everyday laboratory work.

Your profile

  • Secondary school qualification with good grades in mathematics and natural sciences
  • Interest in physics, mathematics and technology
  • Craftsmanship
  • Good imagination and analytical thinking as well as the ability to grasp new concepts quickly
  • Strong ability to concentrate and sense of responsibility
  • Willingness to learn and team player
