Reimbursement by the social insurances

METAS compiles, on behalf of and for the benefit of the Federal Office for Social Insurance (BSV), a list of all hearing aids for which reimbursement under disability insurance and old-age insurance is permitted in accordance with the HVI and HVA regulations (effective from 1 July 2011).

Hearing aids are added to the list after homologation. Thereby conformity can be established based on measurements performed by METAS or based on detailed measurement reports from another approved independent laboratory (such as the DHI). In this way only apparatus will be reimbursed which are suitable to treat hearing deficiencies and which satisfy international standards. Equipment which does not qualify as hearing aid in the stricter sense is not included in this list. In case of doubts the FSIO decides whether they want to exclude a given type from this list.
