SIP LMM5 – High-Precision Length Measuring Machine
The SIP LMM5 is a high-precision length measuring machine jointly developed by METAS and the Société Genevoise d’Instruments de Physique (SIP). It is based on a laser interferometric measurement system and was specifically developed for the calibration of cylindrical gauges, such as setting rings and setting plugs, where the highest accuracy is required.
Thanks to interchangeable measuring heads, the SIP LMM5 can also be used to calibrate other precision measuring standards, such as step gauges and line scales. Numerical control enables largely automated measurement sequences while maintaining high repeatability and reliability.
The measuring machine covers a measuring range of up to 700 mm. Depending on the measurement task, measurement uncertainties of less than 0.1 µm can be achieved. The high accuracy is based on a measurement system designed consistently according to the Abbe principle, a stabilised laser interferometer, and comprehensive consideration of influence quantities such as temperature, probing and guideway errors.
