Consultation on the revision of EMEO
As part of the work on the revision of the Ordinance on Measuring Equipment for Electrical Energy and Power (EMEO), METAS conducted a public consultation of interested parties in 2023 on the regulation of charging stations under metrology law. Consultation period
The consultation on the revision of the OFDJP Ordinance on Measuring Equipment for Electrical Energy and Power (EMEO, SR 941.251) was held from 27 September to 29 December 2023 and was aimed at interested parties from business, administration and specialist organisations.

Purpose
The aim of the consultation was to obtain feedback on the planned adjustments to the metrological requirements for charging stations for electric vehicles.
Next steps
The revision was suspended until the Measuring Instruments Directive (2014/32/EU, MID) was amended. This has since been adopted and published in the Official Journal of the European Union in March 2026 (Directive (EU) 2026/706).
METAS is currently analysing the impact on Swiss metrology law and providing information on the results of the analysis and the next steps on an ongoing basis.
